Block Advisers in Montgomery Village, MD prepared my taxes this year. The person who prepared my return, I am told is one of their top tax advisors. She made a mistake with my capital gains. I questioned it and told her I was going to contact my financial advisor and get back to her. She filed my tax return with out my final authorization causing It to show that I owed $6400 which was her error. She apologized and confirmed to her manager it was her mistake. I was told the only thing I could do was file an amended return after having to pay the IRS $6400 which I did not owe. After numerous calls to H&R Block corporate, I was refunded the $500 preparation fee, however I am now out $6400 plus the amount of my actual refund. I am getting no help whatsoever from H&R Block/Block advisors.. I have left numerous messages for the Montgomery Village manager,Osman Mohammad, and the regional manager Edward Urzua and to date no response. I would Not advise using H&R Block or Block advisors as they DO NOT Stand Behind their peace of mind guarantees. I am now left to make calls into the IRS on my own for status and guidance on how to get my money back. Black advisor gives no help at all when it comes to the IRS. Once they file your return, they will do nothing for you if there is a problem.

Just called this office to ask whether there was an advisor available to go over my return and check it for correctness. The lady who answered the phone was very rude and told me they didn't have time for that, even though the website shows that they have appointments available today. They just want you to squeeze more money from you to do the whole return even if what you really need is help with one single form! Update: the "owner" has now responded to this review, asking me to call H&R Block general toll free number, not a dedicated line to resolve complaints. Tried that, but I run into an automated responder and I had to to argue with a robot before getting transferred to agent (wait time: 20 minutes). H&R Block, if you really wanted an opportunity to make it right, you would have provided a direct number to call.
